Asking for toys

After our walk this morning, Mommy was STARVING! Usually Mommy waits until I'm sleeping to eat, but not today. Mommy put me in my pack 'n play and gave me a toy while she fixed some food.

I think this toy might be my new favorite. I had quite the grip on it. Mommy made a salad and sat right down next to me, so she could talk with me while she ate. Every few minutes I would accidentally drop the toy. If Mommy was taking a bite instead of picking up my toy right away, I got a little bit impatient. I would make some fussing noises until Mommy handed me the toy again.

Mommy said that perhaps using my words might be a nicer way to ask for the toy. She says that Mommies like words like "please" and "thank you" rather than fussing. While I'm sure Mommy knows what she's talking about, I know that fussing works just great! After all, fussing to Mommy today made her hand me my toy...

Chatting with Norah

Yesterday afternoon Norah and I had a lovely chat. Norah is a great little buddy. I'm very thankful to have her as my friend.

Lately I've started reaching for Norah. When Norah comes into the room, I like watching what she's doing. Sometimes the watching distracts me from eating, and Mommy has to send Norah on an errand. "Norah, go find your bone!" says Mommy. And off Norah goes, and I finish my milk. Then when I'm all full, I can get back to playing with Norah.

My Sweatpants

These are my sweatpants. Aunt Julia gave them to me. Mommy has put me in them a few times when Aunt Julia has been around, so she could see me wearing them. However, I've always had other plans. I've gotten them dirty before Aunt Julia has been able to see me.

So, even though it's not in person, here I am, Aunt Julia, wearing my sweatpants just for you!

What are washcloths for?

Chewing, a washcloth is for chewing. Last night during my bath, Mommy finally let me chew on my washcloth. I'd been trying to get at it for days, but Mommy wouldn't let me put the cloth in my mouth. She said it had dirty bath water on it. Oh well...Mommy figured "a little dirt never hurt" and finally gave in! The wait was worth it, and the washcloth just might be my new favorite toy. Yum! Yum!

Practicing Sitting

Since today is Sunday, Mommy got out her all-about-children book. Today she read about ways mommies and daddies can help babies practice things they'll need to know later.

After the reading, Daddy and Norah helped me put what we'd learned into practice. I am now old enough to practice sitting. Mommy has already been helping me sit by putting me on her lap while she's sitting cross-legged. But Daddy, well, he wanted to help me practice by using my Boppy. Here are the pictures of how the experience went...

I had a great time, but I kept leaning to the side. My neck is really strong and wasn't floppy; however, I think my back might need a little more strength before sitting works perfectly.

My raincoat

Ever since the package came in the mail, Mommy has been waiting for a rainy day. Mommy says a person can't wear a raincoat unless it's raining. She says this as if Daddy and I are the only people who don't know the proper "raincoat etiquette". Cause we're having a drought, today has been the first rainy day in a long time.

To welcome me into the world, Mommy's godmother, Muriel, sent me this raincoat. Mommy thinks it's pretty cute! She says, "Every baby needs a raincoat!" It's still a few sizes too big, but that makes Mommy all the more happy! Mommy says that means I'll be able to get more wear out of the raincoat that way. I guess mommies and godmothers know these sorts of things.

Llamas taste great!

Need I say more? Llamas are quite tasty...

The Date Report

Well...the date was great! Here I am reminiscing about the date with Dad.

First we went out to eat. What can I say? The waitresses loved me. :-)

And then we went off to the bookstore. We ran into some friends there. After chatting, we didn't have much time to look at books. So Mommy and Daddy got coffee instead. I'm not old enough to have coffee yet. Maybe someday...

Scooting in my crib

Lately, when Mommy comes to get me in the morning, she's been finding me lying in my crib like this. When Mommy lays me down at night, she lays me in the usual position (long-ways). And then, sometime in the night, I scoot around up to the front of my crib and lay sideways.

No one knows how I rearrange myself. Scooting is something best done when no one is looking. Mommy tries to sneak in to watch, but I lie really still while she's looking. My friend Ava told me she scoots in her crib, too. Scooting must be a baby thing...

We're having a stay-home day today, but tonight we're going out on the town. Daddy is taking Mommy on a date, and I get to come along. I've never been on a date before, and I'm quite excited. I'll let you know what happens on the date tomorrow.

Studying with Dad

Before I went to bed last night, I helped my Dad study. I thought I was quite helpful, but Mommy said I may have been a bit of a distraction. If I was indeed a distraction, Daddy sure didn't seem to mind!

Yesterday was a busy day. First, Mommy and I went to bible study--I play in the nursery with the babies, and Mommy plays with her friends in the room just down the hall. Then, after bible study, we decided to go to Ava's house for lunch. Spike and Nash were there, too. And boy can our mommies talk! They just sat there and chatted the afternoon away...

After a good night's sleep last night, we went for a walk this morning. Walking made me kind of tired, so after my bath, I think I'm going to take a nap.

After the soft rubbies...

...after the soft rubbies, I snuggled on the sofa with my buddy Norah...

"Soft Rubbies"

My Daddy likes what our family calls "soft rubbies" ("soft rubbies" is to be said in a really soft, slow voice). A soft rubbie is when someone lightly runs their fingers on your face. The other day Daddy figured out that I like them, too! Me and Daddy--we like the same things!

Tonight after I was finished with my dinner, Mommy did soft rubbies on my face. I was so relaxed, snuggled there on Mommy while she rubbed my face. I'm a pretty lucky baby to have milk and soft rubbies in the same hour!

Now, Mommy, on the other hand can't stand soft rubbies. She says they make her ticklish. Silly Mommy; she doesn't know what's good!

Two puppies?

For a while now, I've known there are two babies at my house--me and the baby-in-the-mirror. But until today, I did not know we had two puppies at our house as well. It's official--Mommy got proof with her camera--we have Norah and the Norah-in-the-mirror. This new discovery makes me wonder if there are two mommies at our house? I will investigate!

I'm growing and growing so fast. Mommy thinks I may have gained another pound bringing the grand total up to 16 pounds! Not bad for a three-month-old.

A little bald spot is appearing on the back of my head. I think it's due to the links Mommy strung up in my room. I really enjoy lying on my back and playing with the toys hanging from the links. The bald spot bothers Mommy, so I'm having to do more tummy-time these days. Mommy is hoping the additional tummy-time will help get me rolling (on purpose). So far, I have only rolled those two times on accident.

Mommy's book says it's time to practice sitting. And whatever the book says, we do! Mommy sits cross-legged on the floor, then she puts me in her lap sitting up, and we practice. I like practicing better when we play with toys while we're sitting.

Right now I'm doing really well sleeping and napping. Whenever Mommy lays me down to take a snooze, I put my thumb in my mouth and go right to sleep. And, Grandpa Jere, you'll be happy to know I've been consistently sucking my LEFT thumb these days. Maybe, just maybe, I'll be a lefty after all!

Speaking of naps, I must take one pretty soon. Mommy says we're taking a walk this afternoon and I must be well-rested. Have a great day!

My new trick

This morning Mommy had to run to the restroom in a hurry. (Between you and me, I think Mommy drinks a bit too much water. She claims it's good for her. I think with all of the time she spends running to restrooms, it's kind of a hassle.) Anyway, she laid me on my tummy-time rug and shut the door to my room so Norah would stay out. (Mommy doesn't leave Norah and me together unsupervised. I think she's scared we'll make a mess or something. Mommy doesn't like messes!)

But back to my new trick--I'm going off on too many tangents this morning... Mommy left me alone for maybe two minutes at the most; and when she came back I had kicked off my slippers! This is how Mommy and Norah found me after the restroom visit.

Mommy put my slippers back on to see if I'd kick them off again, but I didn't feel like showing her my new trick. There's so little around here to call "just mine", so I'm keeping this trick to myself. Maybe I'll show you someday, Mommy!

Zerberts!

Once upon a time before I was born and still in Mommy's tummy, my Daddy used to do zerberts to me. I really liked them, and I would kick my Daddy's mouth while he was blowing/spitting on Mommy's tummy.

Last night Daddy decided I was finally old enough for real-life zerberts! He would blow/spit on my tummy, and I would laugh and laugh! Then Daddy would laugh and Mommy would giggle and I would screech; because screeching is my new favorite sound! Zerberts and screeching; can life get any better?

My Daddy is sad

Yep, the Broncos lost. "Maybe next year, little buddy," said Daddy.

My new sound

It's official: Blogs need sound! I have a new sound I would love to share with you, but I can't because blogs don't have sound. Maybe when I'm old enough, I will fix this little problem.

Anyway....moving on to my new sound. I have discovered that I can make a lovely screeching sound with my voice. It's loud and high and makes my parents laugh out loud! If you've been talking with my Mom or Dad on the phone yesterday or today, you have probably heard me. It's just a great sound. And to think it's made by me and only me!

So, if you want to hear my sound, give Mommy or Daddy a ring. If you're lucky, maybe I'll be squawking when you call!

Go Broncos!!!

Today I'm going to my friend Jonathan's house to watch the very important Broncos' game. I'm going to wear blue and orange cause those are the Broncos' colors.

I hope the Broncos win...cause...otherwise Daddy might be in a bad mood. Daddy's lots more fun when his team wins the game. I guess we'll see what happens. I'll let you know what happens.

Norah and Bella

After Norah and Bella finished wrestling, they rested. Here is a picture of the tired dogs. Thank you for coming to play with my buddy, Bella!

Saturday, January 21, 2006

Happy Birthday Grandma Lou!

Here's a big smile for you, Grandma Lou! I hope you have a great birthday. I wish you could hear the "sound" that went with this picture. Daddy made me laugh so hard; he was bouncing me on the bed.

This week I've had lots of friends to play with, and today it's Norah's turn. This morning Bella (Uncle Seth and Aunt Joy's Shih Tsu) is coming to play with Nora. The two of them get pretty playful--they wrestle, chase, and stalk each other. I hope they don't try and drag me into the mess! It will be a fun day for Norah.

I'm not sure what we're doing today. I think I'm helping Mommy clean the floors and change the sheets. Hopefully there will be some time to play!

Lots of friends

Today is Friday. Mommy and I stayed home today, and a new friend came over to play. His name is Barrett and he lives in my neighborhood. My Mommy used to work with his Grandma! Barrett is a little bit older than me, but we like the same toys! I was very good at sharing.

Yesterday, Mommy and I went to visit Jonathan and his mommy. After we played, I took a nap in Jonathan's pack-n-play. Mommy is trying to help me learn how to take naps at our friends' houses. So far, I'm doing very well napping at other houses. I get to nap at Jonathan's house again on Sunday cause there's another very important football game.

Wednesday evening I took a nap at some of our other friends' house. These friends have three little girls--I was the only boy, and that was pretty fun! I'm telling you, having three girls want to play with you all at the same time--well, it's just great!

All this socializing has made me pretty tired! I think I'll tell Mommy I'm ready for my crib when I'm finished playing with her.

My sad face

When I feel sad, my face looks like this. I push out my bottom lip and cry. You'd think this face would make everyone in the room cry right along with me. Not so...

You see, my parents, they think this face is funny. It makes them laugh. Oh, they comfort me, but they're giggling the whole time. There's no sympathy at this house for the sad!

I guess I could get Norah to help me run away...but I do have it pretty good here. They feed me, love me, and play with me. I couldn't have it any better...and so I think I'll stay...

Twins?

Yesterday Mommy was looking through my pictures, and she started thinking maybe I looked like her baby pictures. Mommy got up like she was on a mission. When Mommy came back she had this picture of her when she was a baby.

(The picture is fuzzy cause Daddy took a picture of the picture! My parents don't "scan". Maybe someday...)

What do you think? Are we twins? Mommy and Daddy think the babies look an awful lot alike. Mommy thinks this is pretty neat. Before I came into the world, Mommy really didn't think I would look like her. It made sense that I would look like Aunt Julia, because Aunt Julia looks like Mommy but is related to Daddy. However, that didn't happen--I came out looking like Mommy! But sometimes I do look like my Daddy, so I must be a good mix.

Anyway, just wanted to show you the picture of baby Mommy. I can't believe she was ever that little!

I'm three-months-old!

Three-months-old--Mommy can't believe I'm already this old! Just like we do on all of my month birthdays, Mommy put the Denver Broncos outfit on me (by the way, the Broncos won last night--GO BRONCOS!). I think my outfit might be shrinking. My pants and shirt sleeves are a bit short! Or could it be I'm growing like a weed?

I'm a little bit fussy today. Mommy's books say I'm having a three-month growth spurt. That's probably why I keep waking up hungry in the night! Mommy is being really patient with me today. "Hang in there, little guy," is what Mommy tells me, "We'll just take it easy today."

The Nose Game

Last night Daddy taught me a new game. Here's how it goes: First, Daddy holds me up high. Then Daddy opens his mouth. Next, I open my mouth to copy my Daddy; and then I try to eat Daddy's nose! It's such a fun game. And it's most fun when I actually get Daddy's nose!

Of biting and snow

Daddy is afraid I might be a biter when I grow up. Before I was born, Daddy put his order in for a "no-biter". Mommy was a biter--she says she still gets the urge to chomp sometimes. In fact, she bit Daddy one time; it was when they were on their honeymoon. Daddy made the mistake of falling asleep while Mommy was talking to him. Daddy hasn't made that mistake again!

This morning Daddy let me chew on his fingers. They tasted so good! Mommy decided it was time to get out my chewing thing. It's this plastic toy filled with liquid, and it feels really good in my mouth. I enjoy this toy a lot!

And now it's time to move on to more important things: SNOW!

Mommy and I are starting to wonder if we're going to see snow this year. We've had some flakes, but nothing that has really counted as fluffy and fun snow. Not even in Colorado did we get snow! It was a bit disappointing, I'm afraid.

And it's not fair. It's not fair because my cousin Jonas, who lives in Alaska, gets snow and he doesn't even like it! I think it would make better sense if the people who liked snow (me and Mommy) got snow, and the people like Jonas, who don't like snow, didn't get snow. Oh well...there's not much I can do about the distribution of snow. But Jonas, if anyone asks, please tell them to send some snow our way!

Canceled

Well...the whole nursery idea was great, but it's not going to happen. Daddy has just informed Mommy that there are REALLY IMPORTANT football games on television today. "What kind of a message does this send our child?," says Mommy. "That football is important," says Daddy. I tell you, my parents are a piece of work! I think trying the nursery just got put off until next week...

Morning Play-time

Daddy and Norah played with me this morning. We had a great time--the three of us. Daddy tickled me, and Norah licked my face! It sure was fun!

Tonight I get to go to the nursery at my church for the very first time. Mommy wanted me to be three-months-old before she put me in the nursery. On Monday, I turn three-months-old, so tonight is nursery night!

I'm sure it will be fun. There are really nice people working in the nursery. And they have one-way glass so Mommy and Daddy can check on me without me seeing them. Pretty tricky, huh? But best of all, they have lots of toys at the nursery--way more than we have at our house!

I'll let you know how it goes...

Backwards

"Backwards, we're going backwards," says Mommy to me this morning. You see, I used to sleep nine and a half hours all in one stretch during the night. But those days are over. For the past few nights, I have preferred six hour chunks of sleep. This really bothers my Mommy! "What should I do; I don't know what to do," wails Mommy in the middle of the night.

Never fear...I'm sure there will be LOTS of reading today as Mommy tries, once again, to figure me out. Oh, she'll think she has found the answer. And I might let her think she does indeed have the answer...for a few days anyway. That will give me enough time to come up with another curve ball to throw her way. Keeping Mommy on her toes is a full-time job!

Happy Birthday Aunt Samantha!

Mommy forgot today was the 13th of January until she looked at her calendar just now. Good thing Mommy finally looked, or we would have forgotten all about Aunt Samantha's birthday. Aunt Samantha is Mommy's sister and the mommy of my cousins Austun and Ali. They all live in California. We hope you're having a good day, Auntie Sam!

Laughing out loud

Today Mommy and I were in the guest room working on some stuff. Mommy was chatting with me while she was sorting through my pictures. (There are SO many pictures of me--they really need to get a new hobby.)

All of the sudden, I started laughing while Mommy was talking. My laughing made Mommy laugh. Pretty soon we were both laughing. Mommy was excited, cause so far Daddy has been the only one who has gotten me to laugh out loud. Mommy was starting to wonder if she was funny, or if Daddy was the only funny person in our family.

Of course, since it was a new "first", Mommy ran for the camera. I decided to stop laughing. I didn't really feel like having my picture taken. As soon as that camera appeared in front of my face I stopped the laughing all together! In fact, I got down right disgruntled (Mommy says that might not be a real word).

Go figure...Mommy thought the disgruntled faces were just as cute as the laughing faces so she kept snapping pictures. Oh, Mommy--what am I going to do with you?

At least they have Norah. Norah likes to have her picture taken, and poses just like Mommy and Daddy want her to. Thank goodness for Norah; it takes some of the pressure off.

By the way, I have my airline tickets to fly to California. I'm counting down the days until I get to meet the rest of my California relatives. So far, I've only met Grandma Carolyn, Great-Mom-mom, and Aunt Elizabeth. I hear there are TONS more relatives out there just waiting to meet me. Be patient, guys, I'm coming soon!

Frogs in my bathroom

Before I was born, Mommy said she would never have a "kids bathroom". But now that I'm a part of the family things have changed, and today Mommy switched out the guest bathroom. It was "Paris", but now it's "frogs". Kids sure do change mommies. (Mommy said to tell you, never fear, "Paris" moved to the master bathroom.)

This is my new shower curtain. I also have a new toothbrush holder and soap dish--they are turtles and frogs with bumble bees and dragon flies. My new bathroom sure is fun! The bright colors make bathtime all the more fun!

The other picture is a just-because-I'm-cute picture. Mommy couldn't resist. She says I was extra cute today. However, Mommy wasn't thinking I was cute in the night last night! I got up two times. Usually I sleep for 8-9 hours straight. I think I wanted to visit instead of sleeping...

Before we changed the bathroom around, we met my friend Jake and his mommy for coffee. It was good to visit with our friends. Then Daddy started graduate school tonight. He got back from a trip this afternoon, then he took a nap, and now he's at school. I sure hope he stays awake for class! Daddy was very tired.

Well...it's time for bed. Sweet dreams!

While I was sleeping...

...Mommy snuck in and took my picture! Will these people ever quit with the picture taking? I think not...

Yesterday was a fun and busy day. My friend Ava came over for lunch; Ava brought her mommy, too. It was fun to see Ava again. Ava is older than me, but I'm bigger than her! Mommy told me to stop growing. Silly Mommy; babies can't stop growing!

Then we cleaned the floors. Mommy said they were filthy. Mommy likes to use that word, and it makes me laugh when she says, "Baby, our floors are filthy!" What a great word. It just rolls off the tongue...filthy!

This morning after my bath, Mommy weighed herself and then weighed herself again holding me. She thinks I might weigh 15 pounds. That's definitely on the bigger side for my age. Mommy says that explains some things, and she's going to move me up to the next diaper size.

Today we have some errands to run. We're going to the mall, cause Mommy needs a few things. This is the first time we've been to the mall all by ourselves--just me and Mommy. We've always had Daddy or a grandma with us in the past. Mommy is wondering if we'll be okay by ourselves. I told her we'd be fine. After all, the worst thing that could happen is a diaper blowout--I'm really good at those, and Mommy is really good at cleaning them up. "We'll be fine, Mommy. Just remember to pack extra wipes!"

Happy Birthday Dad!

Daddy's birthday was today. Mommy and I made him a cake, and we took him out to lunch! It was a great day. Daddy said he had a nice birthday.

I'm not sure why Mommy lit the cake on fire, but it sure was neat to look at. But then Daddy blew out the fire, and it was just smoky--I had to squint my eyes cause there was so much smoke. Mommy said that's cause Daddy's so old! "Look who's talking," said Daddy. Mommy laughed cause she's older than Daddy. What funny parents I have.

I cleaned my plate!

My high chair

Tonight Mommy and Daddy put me in my high chair so I could sit at the table with them while they ate. I felt like such a big boy!

Two babies?

At my house we have two babies. Me and the baby in the mirror. I used to forget about the baby in the mirror when I couldn't see him, but now I remember he's there even when I can't see him. When Mommy is holding me while she's sitting in the rocking chair, I lean way over until I can see the baby in the mirror. And, best of all, sometimes Mommy lets me visit with the baby while I'm having tummy time. My new favorite thing is to talk with the baby in the mirror. He's such a nice baby.

A string of links

Sundays are usually the days Mommy tries new things. You see, Sundays are the days she reads her books about children and learns about what I should be doing at my age.

Sometimes reading these books gets Mommy into trouble; and sometimes the reading gets me into trouble. But today the reading got me into fun!

Mommy decided to take my links and string them from my crib to my changing table. Then, she hooked some toys to the string of links. Oh what fun we had! I can lay on my tummy-time rug and grab at the toys. When I grab at the toys, the links make a great sound. I had the greatest time (probably cause for a minute Mommy had forgotten about tummy-time!).

The book also said I should be able to sit up with help from Mommy. Of course, I knew I could do this, cause I do it all the time when Mommy is reading to me. But you know my Mom; she had to double-check. She put me in the sitting position and then put her hand on my back. Sure enough, I can sit with support. "Check," said Mommy when looking at the list in the book.

But now I'm afraid the "baby stuff" is over for the day. My Daddy is starting graduate school on Thursday, and we have to help him get ready. Mommy and I are going to help him figure out all the paperwork and web forms. I'm proud of Daddy for getting his Masters. And, you know what? Daddy said he's going to teach me what he's learning; that means I'll be even more advanced!!! Won't Mommy be happy!

I met another Auntie today

We went on another drive today. It was a pretty short one compared to the Colorado drive. We drove up to Kansas so I could meet my Aunt Elizabeth. She's Mommy's sister, and the Auntie who makes me quilts! You can see my Peter Rabbit quilt in the picture.

Betsy (that's what Mommy, and only Mommy, calls Aunt Elizabeth) is in Iowa spending the month with John and his family. They all had a wedding to attend in Kansas, and since Kansas is pretty close to us, we went to meet them.

It was fun to meet Aunt Elizabeth. She held me lots. And since Mommy is allowed to call her Betsy, Aunt Elizabeth is allowed to call me Henry--it's the deal the sisters have. Mommy says sisters can make deals like that. I wouldn't know, cause I'm not a sister! Oh--and me and Aunt Elizabeth weighed the same amount when we were born--pretty neat, huh?

I also got to meet John. I really liked John cause he played with me. There were lots of other people to meet, too. I met John's dad, mom, sister, brother-in-law, nephews, and cousin--whew! It was a lot of new people. Mommy says for me to tell you that she and Daddy approve of John. They think he and Aunt Elizabeth are a good match.

Now we're home again, and I must say, it's good to be home! I'm going to have a snack and then crawl into my crib for some sleep. What a good day we had!

A lot of things to say...

Well, after yesterday and all of the messes, I slept really good last night! And this morning, I have a lot of things to say. I've been talking Mommy's ear off most of the day.

This morning I went to a nursery for the very first time. Mommy went to this special meeting just for mommies, and I went to the place specially for babies. Mommy was a little bit nervous about leaving me with "strangers". However, when we arrived, Mommy was happy to discover the people in charge of the babies weren't strangers after all! So, while Mommy was at her meeting, I played with our friend Lois. Lois is a grandma, and she knows how to keep babies happy.

I was very good in the nursery. I played with the other babies and smiled at the helper ladies. I even took my nap! But then I woke up...and I realized that I was in a new place without my Mommy. I decided to cry just a little bit. Never fear, Lois took me straight to Mommy. And then we went home, and it was time for milk.

Mommy and Daddy are watching a movie tonight. They are going to wait until I'm in bed before they turn it on. Jonathan told me about things like this. Jonathan warned me that all good things would happen while I was sleeping. And he was right! Good things are happening while I'm napping! I'm not sure what I think about this. I might have to get together with Jonathan sooner rather than later to discuss the situation. He and I must come up with a plan to put a stop to these exclusive activities to which we are not invited!

Anyway...after I wake up in the morning tomorrow, we are going to hop in the car and go meet my Aunt Elizabeth. She's in Iowa visiting John, and they're in Kansas this weekend for a wedding. Since we live pretty close to Kansas, and since I haven't met Aunt Elizabeth yet; we're making the drive. I'll get to meet John, too. I'm wondering if someday John might turn out to be my uncle? I'll keep you posted on that one.

Daddy's home, so I must play with him. I hope you have a good weekend!

What a day!

It was a double-bath-quadruple-outfit day for me, and for Mommy, well, it was a triple-outfit day. "Gross," exclaimed Mommy, "Enough with the fluids!". And now Mommy is tired; she says my blog has to be short and sweet tonight. So short it is, and off to bed I go!

Happy Birthday Aunt Joy!

For quite a while, Mommy has been trying to get a picture of Norah helping with bathtime. Today was the day Mommy finally got the shot!

Norah stands up and puts her paws on the edge of the tub. She keeps an eye on Mommy during bathtime to make sure Mommy rinses off all the soap. Norah is a great helper.

Today is Aunt Joy's birthday. She's my Daddy's sister, and she's the pregnant auntie. My little cousin Oliver is inside of Aunt Joy's tummy. Daddy thinks that "Olive" would be a cute nickname for baby Oliver. Aunt Joy says Daddy isn't allowed to call my baby cousin "Olive". Between you and me, I think the only reason Daddy calls Oliver "Olive" is to get a reaction from Aunt Joy. That's kind of how brothers and sisters do things.

Maybe someday I'll have a sibling to harass? Mommy says we have LOTS of time before we need to be thinking about babies again. I think I'd better stop spitting-up if I'm wanting a brother or sister to happen before I'm too old to play with him or her...

Wanna go for a drive?

I've got my keys; would you like to go for a drive? I'm not sure if Mommy will let me borrow the car, so perhaps we could take your's? (By the way, I'm not usually cross-eyed. I'm just looking at my keys close-up.)

Actually, after today, Mommy might let me borrow her car. She's very happy with me, cause I grabbed the keys and shook them to make noise. The book says at my age I should be shaking toys to hear the sounds. And whenever I do something the book says I should be doing, Mommy is very pleased. And when Daddy comes home, she tells him how on-track I am; and then everyone at my house is pretty excited! Around here it's quite easy to please people!

Wristbands are for boys, too

Yesterday Mommy caught up on some reading. The book said I should be interacting with toys right about now. Well, this freaked Mommy out! She's been focusing on tummy-time and reading, and forgot about some of the cool toys people gave me before I was born. Once Mommy collected herself, she pulled out my wristbands.

I wasn't too sure about the bands at first, but now I really like them. One is a sunshine (it rattles), and the other one is a lady bug (it squeaks). They are great for looking at, but they are even better for chewing on! The lady bug has legs and antennae that taste just great. Yum!

Dad is a bit worried about me wearing these "bracelets". He told Mom he's concerned about my masculinity being tampered with. Mommy just laughed and told him not to worry--"He'll be just fine," she said. Heck, Mommy thinks I might even grow up liking wristbands AND sports! How about that!?! Daddy really does want me to have varied interests, but sometimes Mommy has to keep reminding him. So, until I'm big enough for baseball bats and golf clubs, my little wristbands are my toys of choice.

Hum...I wonder if I'd like playing dress-up and tea party?

Happy New Year's!

This morning, Norah and I have been chatting about our New Year's Resolutions. Norah's resolution is to take over the guest room making it hers. She figures it will take at least a year to wear my Mom down to the point where she'll finally say, "Fine, Norah, have it your way. The guest room is now your's!" Norah loves the guest room because it gets great sun.

My resolution is to keep on drinking milk. I just love milk! Mommy thinks my resolution should be to start loving tummy-time. What Mommy doesn't understand is that resolutions are something a person thinks up all by himself. Mommies can't think up babies' resolutions. Babies have to think of them on their own. It seems Mommy has a lot to learn.
