Showers

Showers are one of my very favorite thing. Oh how I love them! So, tonight, when Dad said, "Jamey, do you want to take a shower?" Well, let's just say I got very excited! Here's a picture of me in the shower. Notice how Norah waits on the mat for me? She's such a good puppy.

In other news, Mommy scheduled the ultrasound for March 23rd. That's the day we should know if our baby is a girl or a boy. We're taking votes (as if that makes a difference--silly Mommy). Grandma Lou votes girl and Mommy votes boy; what do you vote?

Reading up on me!

Mommy reads books all of the time. Sometimes she reads for fun, and sometimes she reads to learn what's coming next in regards to me. This afternoon, I decided to read a bit ahead of Mommy. That way I'll know what I'm going to be doing next, too!

My molars are almost through, but they are still causing me some anguish. Cutting molars is a pretty yucky thing. I'm ready for the experience to be over and done with.

(For those who asked, my back-pack was a gift, but Mommy thinks she may have seen them at Target.)

My latest fake smile

"Jamey, will you please smile for Mommy?"

My trip: At the beach, part 2

Before too long, I was wet and cold. The Pacific is quite freezing! Great-Mom-mom was ready with a towel. Dad wrapped me up, and I got warm. If the water had been warmer, I probably would have kept playing in the ocean. The waves kept coming to get me, and I liked it!

Joey was playing in the sand, so I watched what he was doing. Then I played in the sand, too. I'd had enough of my trunks--they kept falling down to my knees--so we took them off. Playing with sand is kind of like playing with dirt, so I had a great time. Boys and dirt--we go together!

I figured if sand was fun to play with, maybe it was fun to eat. Not so much. I had to spit and spit to get that sand out of my mouth. In case you didn't know, sand is best for playing with and not eating.

Mommy thought this picture was especially cute of me with my sandy mouth. Thanks to everyone for a fun trip to the beach!

And that, my loyal readers, concludes my trip. It will be back to daily life tomorrow. Have a nice Sunday!

My trip: At the beach, part 1

One of the things Mommy was most excited about was showing me the beach. Mommy loves the ocean, and she wants me to love it, too. "We're going to the ocean today," said Mommy. "Oash," I said, and we were off.

It was a beautiful day--an unusual seventy-four degrees for a February day on the Central Coast. Great-great-Aunt Dee had brand-new swim trunks just for me!

Here I am walking in the sand towards the water. I got a little bit distracted by the seagulls. I like birds and I wanted to stop and watch them a little bit.

Finally we were at the water! The tide was way out, so it took us a while to get out to the waves. Dad helped me learn how to wade while Mommy (as always) had the camera ready. My cousins Joey and Ali came, as well. It was nice having them there so I could watch and learn how to play at the beach. Great-Mom-mom and Great-great-Aunt Dee were there, too, cheering me on. What fun!

Mommy thought this was a cute picture of her guys' feet. Dad and I have matching "monkey toes". That means we can grab things with our feet. Monkey toes come in handy quite often.

You'll notice in this picture that my trunks are having trouble staying up. That's why I eat ice cream!

Keep reading...More is coming...

Remembering the seals

Great-Mom-mom got me this little stuffed seal to help me remember my fun day. Here I am kissing him before eating my breakfast. "Arguh, arguh," I say.

Well, I have to go play now, but next time I'll tell you all about our visit to the beach!

My trip: Feeding the seals

One of the things Mommy wanted to do while we were on our trip was to feed the seals. "Baby, seals are very loud, but they are fun to feed," said Mommy. And loud they were! At first I wasn't sure what to think. Mommy could tell I was enjoying myself, but my face was still very serious. Here I am with Great-Aunt Dee.

This is one of the five seals we fed. As long as a piece of fish was ready, the seals would clap their flippers, do somersaults, and swim in circles. "Arguh, arugh," the seals would say.

I didn't want to leave the seal room. Mommy wanted to show me the fish in the next room, but I wanted to stay with the seals. They were pretty fun.

Here's an up-close picture of my excited face. I'm kind of like my Dad in that when I'm really excited my face doesn't have any expression. Mommy thinks it's a silly way to show people we're excited.

Non-trip news

Yesterday was a busy day, so I thought I'd better take a break from my trip stories to tell you what happened. First, I finally figured out when to say the word "no". And, then, I figured out how to open the doors at my house! Usually when I learn new things, my Mommy and Dad are very happy. Not yesterday. I'm not sure why, but these two new tricks didn't earn me one bit of praise. Hum...

In other news, my Mommy's tummy is starting to get big. That's cause there's a baby growing inside. And guess what? That baby inside likes to play hide-and-seek! When Mommy went to the doctors' yesterday, that baby hid from the doctor and he had to take extra time finding the little guy. I sure hope the baby will play hide-and-seek with me! I'm counting the days until August when we can hide together.

My trip: Shopping

Mommy had planned on a TON of shopping while we were on our trip, but we ended up shopping just a little bit. Here's the pictures from our final day of window shopping.

We started off at a store that had lots of fountains. The store workers didn't mind if I touched the fountains, and touch I did! I think I stuck my hand (or hands) under every drop of flowing water. This store was almost as fun as the tractor store!

Our next stop was at the store of an illustrator whom Mommy really likes. Our cousin Muriel told us the store was a must-see, so off we went. I really ended up liking this store, because Mommy let me take my blankie (Big Blue) inside with me. I guess Mommy planned to do LOTS of looking, and she knew I'd sit still better if I had Big Blue. Mommy rarely breaks the rules (rule being Big Blue only in my crib or on the stuffed chair), so this was an extra special treat!

By this time Great-Mom-mom and Great-Aunt were finished with their errand and came to join the shoppers. They showed up with a broom that was just my size! (I had been using full-sized brooms at my relatives' houses all week.) They even let me sweep the downtown sidewalks. They're both grandmas, so public sweeping (with me getting in people's way) doesn't bother them. Sweeping sure is fun! Mommy even figured out a way to get the broom into her suitcase, so now I have a Jamey-sized broom at my house. Thanks for the sweep!

My trip: Friends

Mommy wasn't very good about getting pictures of us with our friends. She did the best she could, but she sometimes visited more than she took pictures. Girls sure do have a lot of visiting in them!

This is my friend Jonathan. He used to live by me, and I used to see him all of the time. Now Jonathan lives by my California grandmas. Hum...I wonder if he sees my grandmas when I'm not there? We had a nice time visiting with Jonathan and his parents.

Mommy's family has lots of special friends. Dick is just one of those special people (and the only one Mommy got a picture of). Here I am with Noah showing Dick all of the animals in the picture. Dick is a grandpa so he didn't mind that we touched the pretty painting. Grandparents are so understanding.

Way back in the day before Mommy knew Dad or me, she used to hang out with her friend Christine. Here I am with Christine's three kiddos. Alle, Kelsey, and Tom--they're having a new baby brother named Travis in April. Did you notice that Tom has a tired thumb just like me? I think everybody needs a thumb.

Whew! Remembering how many people we visited and played with is making me tired! I'd better take a nap!

My trip: Cousins

I played with lots and lots of cousins while I was on my trip. I have way too many cousins to post a picture of every cousin I saw, but here are a few of the cousins I had fun with.

Here I am in Great-Mom-mom's rose garden with K.C. Anytime I wanted to go outside (which is just about anytime), K.C. was ready to go!

This is my cousin Noah; he wanted to take a bath with me one evening. It was a lot of fun until we both started splashing; then I wanted out. I guess I like to be in control of the splashing...

This was the day I played outside in the mud (Mommy was taking a nap, so she--luckily--missed it). I had to have a bath before I played with my cousin Kristine cause I didn't want to get her all muddy!

Joey and Ali live by the beach, and we got to go and visit them for a few days. Did you know, that at the beach, there are outside restaurants? Yep, they ENCOURAGE people to eat outside at the beach. And, I'm all about being outside! But back to Joey and Ali... They took really good care of me and gave Mommy a bit of a break!

Thanks for playing with me, cousins! Now, it's your turn to come and visit me!

The Farm

I'm taking a break from telling you about my trip because something extra-super fun happened today. Our friend Molly invited us to her farm to see a baby lamb! Our friends picked Mommy and I up and we were off. I sure did have a great time. And, guess what? Molly said we could come back anytime. Yippee!!!

Meeting Coconut the lamb.

Molly fed the cows grain so they would come close to us. Here I am talking with Greta.

While I was mowing the grass, Coconut came over to see what I was doing. I think lambs might like little boys...

Last but not least, I found a tractor that was just my size! When are we going back to the farm?

I'll post more about my trip to see the relatives tomorrow.

My trip: Aunts and uncles

While I was gone, I saw lots of aunts and uncles. Here are pictures of me with just a few...

Aunt Tammy and me! Aunt Tammy came to play with me a couple of evenings. And then she went up to the snow! I hope you had lots of fun playing in the cold.

Uncle Tim took a break from cleaning swimming pools to have lunch with me. Thanks for taking a break to eat Chinese food with me.

After Aunt Dyana got down from a the mountain and a day of snowboarding, she came to play with me. Aunt Dyana thought I was very funny!

I got to see my Uncle Tom lots and lots. Uncle Tom got down on the floor to play with me; it was so much fun! Uncle Tom is off to New Orleans this week to build some more houses. Have a good trip!

I also saw Uncle Rob, Aunt Andrea, Great-Uncle Jim, Great-Aunt Kendy, Great-Uncle Ken, Great-Aunt Julie, Great-Great Uncle Robert, Great-Great Aunt Norma Jean, and Great-Great Aunt Dee. Whew! I think that's all the aunts and uncles I saw this trip! It sure is a lot, but not as many as I didn't see. Hopefully next time I'll catch the rest.

My trip: Fun with Grandmas

I had lots of fun with lots of grandmas on my trip.

Here I am with my Great-Great-Grandma Hiett. She's 102 1/2, and she really wanted to hold me. I, on the other hand, wanted to be on the floor where I could more easily access the wheels and levers on Great-Great-Grandma Hiett's chair. It sure was fun to see my Great-Great Grandma--I guess most kids don't get to meet this particular kind of grandma very often.

Here I am with Great-Mom-mom. Much to Mommy's surprise, Great-Mom-mom let me play in the gutters while it was raining. In fact, Mommy says we might be in trouble for publicizing this photo. Notice we're both in our jammies. Mommy said she never thought she'd see the day when Great-Mom-mom was outside (in the front yard) playing in the gutters wearing her jammies! The things grandmas will do for kids--unbelievable!

Remember how my doctor said I could eat ice cream? Well, Grandma Carolyn helped me follow the doctor's orders. We shared some vanilla--Grandma Carolyn's favorite! Yum!!!

It sure was fun to see some of my grandmas. I won't get to see them again until summer. I hope summer comes QUICK!

My trip: Getting there

It's going to take me quite a few blogs to tell you all about my fun trip. I think I'll spread it over a few days so you don't get too bored.

Here we are at the airport! It was almost time to hop on our plane. Since I'd be sitting down for a VERY long time, I got to wear my backpack (or, as I say, "pak-pak") and look out the windows at airplanes and cargo trucks. Oh, I was getting very excited...

Finally we were on the plane. Mommy and Dad were right; we were on the plane for a very long time. I got to sit in my very own seat (there was an extra). My seat even had a tray! It sure was fun to eat my raisins and drink my water using a tray.

Well...keep reading over the next few days, and you'll see all of the fun things we did and all of the fun relatives I played with.

I'm home!

I'm home! We had a wonderful trip, and, as soon as we unpack the camera, I'll post some pictures. Well...my Mommy is sick, so it might be a few minutes after we find the camera. Regardless, super fun pictures are coming soon! Stay tuned!

Lello!

Here I am talking (while walking around the house) on my cell phone. "Lello," I say after poking all the numbers. Then I jabber and jabber before hanging up. Thanks to all the grandparents who "talked" with me yesterday. I sure do like talking on the phone.

Well...I'm off to see my relatives on Mommy's side of the family. Thanks to Aunt Joy and Oliver for taking care of our house and our puppy! Mommy says we're bringing back a special treat for you as a thank you!

And, yes...

...I do have a couple more "ouches" on my face. I'm sure you noticed. I fell on a toy today while I was playing with some friends at Mommy's meeting. It was quite sad at the time, but now I'm just fine! Since I get to see my cousin Noah on Friday, it will be kind of fun to show him the bruise I'll probably have. I think Noah might think my bruise is neat! Boy cousins are good like that...

Still Mommy's baby...

Most of the time I'm a big boy. Today, however, I felt like being my Mommy's baby. Mommy thinks it might be cause I've been around lots of babies lately. There were babies at Mommy's meeting this morning, and there are babies in the nursery on Wednesday mornings. My teachers have said that I'm pretty curious about what the babies are doing. Mommy says this might be a good thing since we're going to have a baby of our own.

Anyway, today I felt like being a baby. Usually I only need Big Blue when I'm tired or hurt, but this afternoon I needed him all of the time. This drove Mommy a bit crazy as she doesn't like Big Blue to touch the floor. Here I am spending time with Big Blue while Mommy is making my snack. It's a good thing I have more than one Big Blue, cause this one ended up in the washer.

The other thing I decided to try was a bottle. Way back in the day when I was a tiny baby, I did not like bottles. I didn't like them one little bit! In fact, sippy cups were even a hard adjustment for me. But since then, I've seen my cousin Oliver use a bottle and the babies in the nursery use bottles. And I've become a little bit more curious. Until today, I just played with the bottle that lives in the box in my closet. But this afternoon I decided it was time to give the bottle a try and see what all the babies like them. Plus I can say bottle now, which makes it all the more fun.

I asked/motioned Mommy to put water in my bottle, and I spent most of the afternoon trying to sip the water out of the bottle. It still doesn't work for me; I still can't get water to come out of the bottle. I'm not sure why the babies like bottles. It was great for chewing on, but I'll take a straw for drinking any day! Still, I got a little bit mad when Mommy or Dad tried to take it away from me.

I was mad, that is, until Dad showed me the most wonderful trick. He made the bottle squirt water at my face! I LOVE water in my face. Oh, it was great! I laughed, giggled, and squealed!!! I didn't want Dad to stop. I sure hope we get to play with my bottle tomorrow. And, I wonder if Oliver knows about how much fun bottles can really be. Enough with the milk, Oliver--I'll get my dad to squirt you with water--okay?

Saturday morning with Dad

Since it's Saturday, Dad told Mommy she could sleep in a little bit. That gave Dad and me the opportunity to have a boys' morning.

First Dad and I played guitar. I even said the word guitar! We played nice music--Dad even sang me a silly song!

Then we got dressed and went to the tractor store. Did you know that, at the tractor store, they have lamps with cars on them? That store keeps getting better and better. I'm starting to wonder if we should just move to the tractor store. It would be easier than having to get in the car every Saturday and drive down there. I'll check with Dad, and I'll let you know if our address changes.

What an afternoon!

I think I came pretty close to being shipped off to the grandparents this afternoon. Mommy and I had a wonderful day...most of the time...

We stacked blocks, we read LOTS of books, we colored pictures together, we ate pretzels for a snack, we played with my barn, we listened to music--we did all kinds of fun things! And in between all of those fun things, I would sneak over to Norah's food and water dishes and play.

That's when the trouble began. Mommy tried everything. Mommy used her words to remind me to stay out of Norah's dishes. Mommy tried distracting me with more fun games. Mommy tried letting me watch television. Mommy tried and tried...for about six times. And then, on what felt like the seventh time...

Well, that's when Mommy lost it. "Henry James (in case you didn't remember, that's my real name), you need to stay out of Norah's food and water", said Mommy quite loudly. And then she swooped me up and put me in my pack-'n-play. I was still a little alarmed at the loud talking, so I didn't really notice that Mommy had left the room. And left she did!

Mommy left for 20 whole minutes! Mommy said it took all of that 20 minutes for her to feel like apologizing to me for talking so loudly. Apology given and accepted, and Mommy and I got Big Blue and snuggled for a long time. I think we both needed a snuggle.

For the next hour, I did remember to stay out of Norah's food and water. But then Dad came home...and he had to remind me again...twice.

Thank goodness for my bath and bedtime! I'd had enough with the reminders. Mommy says she's glad tomorrow is a new day with a fresh start.

Snowy shoes

It's still pretty snowy outside. So when Mommy and I got home today, Mommy took her shoes off and left them by the door. After I noticed that Mommy was putting her shoes on the rug, I decided that I should, too. I took my shoes off and lined them up next to Mommy's.

Reading before breakfast

This morning, while Mommy made me breakfast, I did a little reading. I still prefer it when Mommy or Dad reads to me, but I'm getting really good at reading to myself. I "read" what the page says and then I turn the page and read what that page says. Before too long, I'm at the end of the book and it's time to read another book. Reading sure is fun!
