Warming Up

Dad and I came back in the house to warm up and eat dinner. Mommy made yummy homemade mac-&-cheese. I was still a little bit cold, so I took and extra hot bath. Off to bed, but, first, we had to read my book titled Snowmen at Night. (Can you tell I like themes?)
What a fun snow day!

Dad Builds a Snowman

With Dad's help, I built a snowman! We rolled the snow...

...and rolled the snow...

...to make a base and a tummy for my snowman.

Here's the head!

Isn't he a cute snowman? We stuck my rake and hoe in the tummy to make the arms, and we put my beach bucket on the head for a hat!

It started getting dark, so we headed in...

Playing in the Snow

After my nap and after my snack, I convinced Mommy to let me play in the snow. Mommy had flipped on the television to check on road conditions, and, right there on tv, was a picture of a snow plow. I have a little snow plow and I was pretty sure I wanted to see if my snow plow could plow snow. Mommy said "sure" and out I went.

Here's a close-up of the plow. My plow doesn't really work quite as well as the big plows do.

Jack had to stay inside. Mommy says plowing in 34 degrees might be too cold for a six-month-old.

I gave up plowing for shoveling.

And then my Dad came home...

Making Valentines

When it snows in our town everything shuts down. We had planned to run errands today after taking Jack to the doctor's for his six-month appointment, but even the doctor's office was closed! We decided to stay home and start working on our Valentine's Day projects.

First we shaved a few crayons and sprinkled them on pieces of waxed paper.

We folded the waxed paper, sandwiched it between towels, and used the iron to melt the shavings.

We had to take a quick peek to make sure it was working just right.

All done! The shavings melted and made pretty swirls.

Mommy cut the melted paper into hearts so we can use them to make Valentine's.

I think the next part of the project will include a little glue. I really like it when Mommy and I use glue! It's super sticky, messy, and fun!

Snow Day

This morning we woke up to a light dusting of snow.
A few hours later there was a little more snow...

...and a few hours after that...

...and just before it stopped snowing.

Mommy's Other Helper

While I was napping this afternoon, Jack helped Mommy fold the laundry. Isn't Mommy super blessed to have two great helpers?

Indoor Soccer

Once again, it's freezing here. Too cold to play outside. We're ready for spring around here! Enough with the cold! Until warmer weather arrives, we'll be playing soccer indoors...

A Little Bit Sick

"Do you want to play with play-dough?," asked Mommy this morning. "Yep," I replied. Mommy got out the play-dough and set me up in Jack's highchair. I wanted to make snakes and pumpkins, so Mommy rolled out some snakes and got me the pumpkin cookie cutter.

"Jamey, I have to run get something. I'll be right back. Please remember not to eat the play-dough," Mommy said as she walked from the room...

"Mommy, I'm feeling a little bit sick," I called in the direction of the other room. Mommy came running. "Do you feel sick, Jamey?," she asked. "Yes, Mommy. I ate one of the snake heads, and I feel a little bit sick."

Relief flashed across my Mommy's face as she assured me I'd be fine and reminded me not to eat play-dough.

Good Morning, Jack

Jack wakes up pretty cheerful these days. He likes to call for us with his cute chatter. Mommy and I race to Jack's bedroom door, because we know as soon as Jack hears the door open, he'll whip his head up and around to look at us. We are greeted with a HUGE smile! "Good morning, Jack-Jack," we say! And then we pick him up for a snuggle.

I'm telling you, he is the cutest baby ever!!! We know some of you have to pretend other babies are cuter than Jack, and that's alright. Keeping the peace within a family can be a noble thing. We're just glad we don't have to pretend since we have the cutest one right here at our house. :-)

Here's a up-close shot of Jack peeking through the slats. Who could resist those blue, sparkly eyes? We sure can't! And that's why we're going to stop taking pictures for the moment and get that baby of ours up and play with him!

Aprons

As you know Sundays are pancake mornings. Although yesterday we had waffles. Regardless of what we have, I like to be Dad's helper. Mommy thought that as a cooking helper I probably needed an apron, so she found a friend who makes aprons and picked one out for me. Here I am wearing my new apron.

My name is written in green on the front. J-A-M-E-Y. Yep, my name starts with a "J" just like Dad's name and Jack's name. Mommy's begins with a "K". And, yes, "W" is still my most favorite letter, but I'm starting to appreciate "Rs" as well.

Could it be?

Could it be? Could it be that our baby might be learning how to sit up? He's still pretty wobbly, but it seems Jack is starting to get the hang of sitting.

Look, no hands!

It only lasted for about two seconds. But with a little more practice, I think Jack will be a sitter sooner rather than later!

Appropriate Library Behavior

Yesterday there were no pictures. Yesterday I forgot what appropriate library behavior was. Yesterday might be considered not one of our best days. And who wants pictures of not-so-great days? Not us!!! On those kinds of days we just want to make it to the end of the day, so we can go to sleep and wake up to a fresh, new day.

A Slow Morning

We all had a hard time waking up this morning. Even Mommy. Jack was the only chipper one in the bunch. We decided maybe a little video might help. Norah, the alligator, and I crawled up on the sofa while Mommy did her best to pry her eyelids open. Mornings can be hard sometimes...

Little grey dolphin...

...swimming in the water...

The other day when I was playing with my grey dolphin I made up a a song: "Little grey dolphin swimming in the water." I sing that same line over and over and over. And tonight Mommy let my little grey dolphin actually swim in the water during bathtime!

It's fun having a dolphin in the tub.

He is a very good swimmer and is especially fond of bubbles.

"Little grey dolphin swimming in the water..."

A Stay-Home-PJ Day

Yesterday morning, after we finished our reading, we decided to have a stay-home-jammie day.
Jack and I thought we'd play with cars.

"I'm making this one go super, really fast!"

Here's Jack trying to get up on all fours...

...and here's what happens when Jack is almost up on all fours. He smashes his face.

Poor little Jack. Keep trying little brother--Practice makes perfect!

Happy Birthday Grandma Lou!

Happy Birthday to Grandma Lou!
We know you like to read, so here's Jack reading you a story for your birthday...

...and here I am reading you a story for your special day!

Have a great day! Jack and I are hoping you get some snow. We both think lots of snow would make any birthday better!

Train Tracks

Since it's the weekend, I've been playing with my Dad. First we played with my train tracks, and now we're watching football. Go New England!

Happy Birthday Uncle John!

Happy Birthday to Uncle John! We hope you're having a good day. I'm sure Aunt Elizabeth has all kinds of fun things planned for your special day.

This is Jack in the Bumbo we're borrowing from our friends. Yes, we know they've been recalled. Mommy did some asking around, and, come to find out, the recall was for more of a user defect than a product defect. So, we're putting Jack in the Bumbo only when he is REALLY supervised. That way he won't hurt himself if he accidentally arches out of the seat.

Jack sure does like sitting up. He can see what I'm doing a whole lot better when he's upright.

Girls and Boys

On our way to Caleb's birthday party yesterday (we forgot the camera, so just imagine all the fun we had), Mommy and I had a little chat about boys and girls. "I'm not going to play with Emma Claire because she's a girl," I told Mommy. "Really," she replied. I continued the conversation by saying, "I'm going to play with Ava!"

I could tell a academic lecture detailing the differences between boys and girls was brewing in Mom's brain. Mommy ended her talk by saying that Ava is a girl just like Emma Claire is a girl. "I'm not going to play with girls, I'm going to play with Ava," was my response to Mommy's conclusion. I could tell Mommy had lots more to say, but she decided to keep her words to herself.

Later that very same day while we were on our way somewhere else, Mommy started in with the who-is-a-girl-vs.-who-is-a-boy game. "Jamey, are you a boy or a girl?" "I am a boy." Jamey, is Jack a girl or a boy?" "Jack is a boy." Jamey, am I a girl or a boy?" "Momma, you are not a girl or a boy, you are a Momma!"

So there you have it... I'm a bit confused as to who is a girl and who is a boy, but I've got one thing down pat. My Mommy is a Momma!

Poop

Poop. Yes, this is a post about poop. There has been lots of it at our house today. And most of it has come from of Jack.
We'll spare you all the gory details, but when Jack's poop day finally rolls around, it's a doozy! Just ask Grandpa Jere and the ladies who work in his office. Upon our arrival in Colorado this past Christmas, they were privileged enough to witness one of Jack's explosions. But back to today...
Mommy thinks it would be better if Jack did a little business every day, but Jack likes to save it up and then make one big, huge mess. And when I say mess, I really mean disaster! It's usually up and out of the diaper; and more often than not, it's up to Jack's neck! Today Jack did his thing not once...but TWICE!
Getting Jack cleaned up can be pretty tricky. By the time Jack's clothes come off, the poor guy is typically in need of a full body wash finished up with a hair shampoo. The clothes...well, to put it discreetly, today's onesie was deposited in the outside trash can. Oh my!
Jack, however, isn't phased one little bit! Here he is with his big smile lying on the floor cause, well, both changing table pad covers were not to be spared in the events of today. "Whew," said Mommy, "I need a vacation!" "And," she continued, "Your Dad owes me not one, but TWO!"

Oliver Came to Play Today

Oliver and Auntie Joy came to play this morning. We played with all my toys and made a mess! It was super fun! Then we had lunch. Pretty soon it was time for Oliver to head home for a rest. We "high-fived" and he was off.
Thanks for coming to play, Oliver!

A Cute Napper

The sky is grey, and it's a perfect day for sleeping. That's why I took a three-hour nap! While Mommy thought the long nap was great, she started getting worried that I might not be ready to sleep when bedtime rolls around. Camera in hand my Mommy snuck in and snapped my picture before she woke me up! She thought I looked awfully cute all snuggled up with Big Blue in my crib.

And now I'm a bit grouchy. Mommy's thinking she perhaps should have let me sleep and figured out bedtime when seven o'clock rolled around. I'm not a happy camper when I'm woken up... Hum...

Chores

We're sticking close to home today and taking care of a few chores. Here we are doing the floors. Mommy took this picture while she was cleaning. Jack (see the top of his head?) is tied to Mommy while she is using the big vacuum. I'm the little guy in the orange and white stripped shirt with the little red vacuum. I do not like the noise Mommy's vacuum makes. My little vacuum, which doesn't make noise, helps me to be brave. It's a pretty good system we've got going...

...and now it's time to get back to the chores...sweeping, mopping, grocery shopping...and the list goes on...and...on... I'm afraid that Mommy of mine borders on breaking the child labor laws!

Well, the chores are finally finished and I'm exhausted! Mommy is letting me snuggle with Norah up on her and Dad's bed. Whew! It sure feels good to put my feet up. Sheesh! Mommy worked me hard! I'll bet I'll take a great nap...

Happy Birthday Aunt Samantha!

Two days late. Sorry about that. Mommy remembered, but she got distracted before we got a chance to blog. We feel bad, but we hope you had a fun day regardless of our non-post! Have a great year!

Tummy-time

Jack really likes it when I help him with tummy-time, so yesterday afternoon we did tummy-time together.

Even Norah helped!

Since Jack is still little, I showed him how his toy worked. It used to be mine when I was little, so I'm kind of a pro at playing with it.

Notice our matching shirts? Grandma Carolyn gave them to Jack and me before Jack was even born. Is that planning ahead or what?

Flashback Monday

Jack is almost six-months-old which means it's almost time for him to try food! This fact has Mommy feeling a little bit sentimental, thus the trip down memory lane...
My first taste of rice cereal...

...and my first taste of avocado...

...and my first taste of sweet potato.

Apparently sweet potato isn't all it's cracked up to be. I wonder if Jack will like it better than I liked it?

Weekend with Dad

Weekends are my favorite time of the week because my Dad is home to play with me.

This weekend we played baseball. I'm getting pretty good at hitting the balls Dad throws me.

Jack likes the weekends, too.

He told Dad quite a few things this afternoon. Jack is quite the talker these days.

All good things must come to an end...tomorrow is Monday, and Dad has to go back to work.
