Denver Broncos

A few weeks ago, my dad decided what I should wear home from the hospital after I'm born. His pick? A Denver Broncos outfit. He called Grandpa Jere and Grandma Lou and asked them if they could help him out.

At the Colorado shower, my mom opened a package from Grandpa Jere. Guess what was inside? Yep, my very first Denver Broncos outfit! A very cute Denver Broncos outfit!

Here's a picture of my mom at the shower "helping" me try on the shirt and pants. You'll just have to use your imagination as to how it's going to look on me. My dad thinks it will look great.

On another note, tonight is the night my crib gets put together! I'm very excited! I was starting to wonder where I was going to sleep after I come into the world. Now I'll have the perfect place.

Last night my mom set my baby monitor. She tested it on my dad, and he didn't know she was doing it! She said it was kind of like spying. I'm not sure what "spying" is...

And, on the agenda for this weekend...picking up my stroller and carseat! Not only will I have a place to sleep; I'll also have a place to ride. :-)

My dad just got home from work, and my mom and I must go welcome him home. Catch you later...

My Shelf

Last weekend when my Uncle Jamey and Aunt Amy were visiting, Uncle Jamey put up the shelf in my room. Here is a picture of him hanging the brackets.

Uncle Jamey is in charge of big construction projects, and he is pretty good with tools. When they were younger, my mom and Uncle Jamey used to get in quite a bit of trouble using my Grandpa Patrick's tools. I think the problem was they "forgot" to ask for permission before they borrowed the tools and started their projects. My mom says it's nice to be a grown-up now, so they can do projects whenever they want.

After my aunt and uncle went home and after my mom got sick and after we went to Colorado, my mom FINALLY got a few things put up on my new shelf. She's not sure everything is in exactly the right spot--she says arranging takes time. My dad said "arranging" is a girl-thing--as boys, we should just nod and say, "It looks good!"

For those of you who have been in my room, the shelf hangs on the wall above my changing table and bookshelf. My shelf has lots of special things on it. My mom is sharing her Beatrix Potter figurines with me, and they're on the shelf. And then my very own Beatrix Potter figurines are up there too--they were given to me by one of my Great-Grandma Maryalice's special friends. The cow was my Great-Great Grandpa Hiett's, and he is one of the people who I am named after. Then there is a picture of my mom on the day she was born... And other stuff, too. I just followed my dad's lead, and I told my mom the shelf looked good! I think it made her happy.

Some things I've learned about Grandmas

Right now I'm in Colorado. We're here because my Grandma Lou's friends threw me a baby shower. We had a lot of fun at the shower chatting and eating yummy brunch food. The party was out on a beautiful deck with a spectacular view of the mountains. Colorado is a very pretty place.

At the shower some of the ladies wanted to feel me move; they put their hands on my mom's tummy. I didn't really feel like moving, so I stayed really still. My mom doesn't understand why I don't move on command. I think I like to have the upper hand. :-)

I got so many fun things at my shower. All (most) of the ladies there were grandmas or want-to-be grandmas. Let me tell you--I learned quite a bit about grandmas yesterday! Their purpose in life is to spoil grandkids! Did you know that there are special catalogs full of things for grandmas to buy? I got a giftcard for my stroller and carseat, and then tons of very cute clothes, stuffed animals, and books! I even had packages from my California grandmas! See what I mean? Grandmas are awfully fun! The "grandma-ladies" even made me a cake out of diapers and practical baby things. So fun! I'll post pictures when I get back to Arkansas.

But the best thing I learned about grandmas yesterday is that they will pray for me--now, after I'm born, and as I'm growing. They will also pray for my mom and dad as they prepare to parent me. And if there's something special we really want them to pray for, all we have to do is tell them about it and they will pray! I'm glad I have them.

A few updates... My mom is feeing better. She's been resting a lot, and I think the rest is working. Only six and a half weeks to go, and I'll be coming into the world! When they get back into town, my mom and dad are going to spend lots of time in my room finishing things up. So get ready for some more pictures.

I must close for now. I've been instructed to "move" this morning so my Grandpa Jere can feel me. I'm not sure if I'm going to cooperate or not. I'll keep you posted.

Taking Care of My Mom

It's official. My mom is sick. She has the chills and a bad cold.

As my dad left for his trip this morning, he told me and Norah to take care of her while he was gone. We're doing a great job! I went to the store with her to get orange juice and chicken noodle soup, and Norah is snuggling with her on the couch. Good thing she has the two of us!

And it's a good thing I'm not born yet. You see, my mom doesn't like to be bothered by anyone when she's sick. She just likes to curl up in her bed or on the couch and sleep it off. I'm afraid if I was already born, I might bother her. I wouldn't mean to, but I'm just so used to being with her all of the time, and I wouldn't want to miss out on anything.

I want her to better soon, so I'm going to be really still today and help her rest...

Mail from Canada

It's true, it's true! The part to my crib arrived today! And, on top of that, Uncle Jamey finished my shelf today. It looks great! I can't wait to show it to you.

However, my mom went to sleep at three-thirty today. She told me she's only getting up long enough to help me blog, and then she's going back to bed. (She's being kind of a baby tonight--she's had a couple of late nights...)

Anyway, here's the plan: My mom is going to decorate the shelf tomorrow and take pictures. I'll make sure she blogs them. And then after my weekend in Colorado (for the Colorado shower and to meet my Grandpa Jere), my mom and dad will put the crib together. They can't put it together tonight, cause my dad's packing for a work trip. Patience, patience, patience...

Well, even though I'm not the LEAST bit tired, I have to go to bed now. My mom is making me. Just wait until I come into this world--I plan on controlling the sleep/awake times around here! Only seven more weeks...

Uncle Seth and the Case of the Missing Brownie

Once upon a time last week, my mom made some brownies to take to some of our friends. She left a few in the pan and set them on the counter to share with me and my dad. They were the yummiest of brownies because they had frosting them. YUM!

The next day my mom came home from work and noticed that there were a few crumbs scattered about and that the cover was not on the pan in the same way she left it. She then accused my dad of STEALING a brownie without sharing it with her! My dad denied the whole thing, and my mom, though she didn't believe him, dropped the subject.

Last night we went to church. Uncle Seth was one of the guitar players. I sure do like church! The music is really loud, and I like to dance. Anyway, after the service, we went up front to say hello to Uncle Seth. He told my mom he had a confession to make.

Uncle Seth said he was the one who STOLE the brownie. He dropped Bella off at the house that day to play with my buddy Norah, and while he was there, he saw the brownies. Since no one was looking and since Uncle Seth LOVES chocolate, he helped himself to one. Well...this confession got my dad wriled (sp?) up! My dad couldn't believe that he got in trouble for what Uncle Seth did! Uncle Seth just laughed...

Actually, I'm kind of glad my Uncle Seth knows about sneaking brownies. I'm going to need to know how to sneak them when I'm older, and now I know who can help me learn the skill! :-)

Growing

This week I haven't had very many words to share. You see, I've been growing. The doctor says I'm growing about 4-6 ounces a week! That kind of growth takes energy that cannot be wasted on words. In two weeks, I'll start growing about 6-8 ounces a week...makes me tired just thinking about it!

My mom said I should update everyone on the crib. The piece still has not come, and so the crib is still not put together. Monday, my mom is going to call Canada and see what the hold-up is. (She's starting to loose patience!)

Uncle Jamey (my mom's brother) and Aunt Amy flew in last night. Today we're going to have cinnamon rolls and then put up the shelf in my room. I'll have my mom post a picture when it's ready to show-off.

I'm off to the cinnamon roll shop and the hardware store. More from me later...

Bathtime

My Aunt Julia finished up with camp this week. She was a camp counselor for a whole month at a camp by us. To help my Aunt Julia drive back to Colorado, my Grandma Lou flew out and we got to visit with her, too.

While they were here, my mom and dad had to go to a party. Grandma Lou and Aunt Julia couldn't go to the party with us, so they asked to be dropped off at Target. When we picked them up, they had lots of bags!

Guess what was in the bags? Stuff for me! I got lots of bath stuff. My mom seems a little worried about how dirty I'm going to get. I really don't think I'll be that "filthy" (my mom likes to use that word) when I'm super little. But maybe my mom knows stuff I don't know? Anyway, I'm set for bathtime. Thank you Grandma Lou!

Grandma Lou and Aunt Julia left this morning... My mom and dad are having a lazy day, and then it will be time to get ready for Uncle Jamey and Aunt Amy's visit to Arkansas. I think I might have a lot of aunts and uncles...

Single Digits

Thirty-one weeks down and nine to go, then I'll be ready to be born. Yep, today we hit the single digits! My mom celebrated the "single digits" by making a list of things she wants to have accomplished when the nine weeks are up. Then she vacuumed the house. I think hitting week thirty-one may have stressed her out a bit.

Last night we had our childbirth class. My mom learned how to give me a bath and change my diapers. My dad all ready knew how to do these things. Next, we get to learn about infant CPR. I don't know what that is, and my mom says she hopes I never have to know. I must admit I'm very curious. After CPR class, we have lactation class. My mom says "lactation" is just a big word that means food! Good thing they're learning about food, because all this growing is making me hungry.

My mom says we're going to bed early tonight, so that's all from me...

#$&%@#$*&!!!

Well...as you can tell by the title, the putting together of my crib did not go well. My mom and dad got the box opened, all the pieces laid out, and lo and behold, they were missing one of the most important pieces! I guess the box packers at the crib factory decided to play a mean trick on us. For some reason they saw it fit to leave out piece G.

My mom was quite frustrated and disappointed. However, she channeled her frustration to the 1-800 number on the bottom of the crib. Customer service told her to go to the website and order a new part. She did and hopefully within 15 days we'll have the piece. I guess the Canadians aren't real quick with shipping pieces! That's where my crib came from--Canada. My mom doesn't understand why it takes 15 days (she likes things done "yesterday").

It does look like a nice crib. My mom is happy with what she sees so far. She's pretty eager to get it all put together and make it up with my new bedding. She's having fun with decorating the room and looking at all the clothes. Fun, fun, fun!

Me in August!

Growing and growing and growing--that's what I've been doing lately. My mom and dad can't believe how big my mom's tummy is getting! I think the doctor is right, I'm going to be a huge baby!

This week I found my mom's ribs. It's so much fun to hook my foot up in there and kick. My mom gets a little bent out of shape when I do this new trick. She claims it hurts. As if a 4ish pound baby could really hurt a grown woman!?! Really! Anyway, when I kick, my mom pushes in on her ribs to make it hurt less. I kind of like the "push" cause then there are two things to kick--her rib and her hand. Learning new things is great fun.

Today my mom and dad went to visit my girlfriend Ava (she's 6-days-old). She's very cute and tiny. My dad held Ava lots and said he was ready for me to be born. My mom held Ava some and said that she was glad my dad was going to be around to help her with me. My mom just needs to realize that little babies make funny noises, and it doesn't mean she's doing anything wrong. She has a lot to learn. It makes me tired thinking about all I have to teach her. I have quite the job ahead of me. Good thing Grandma Carolyn and Grandma Lou are coming into town when I'm born to help me out--it's too much for one baby to handle!

This weekend we are putting my crib together. So...stay tuned as I'm sure that will be quite an ADVENTURE! :-) Posted by Picasa

Playing With My Dad

Naptime is something I'm teaching my mom about. She doesn't like naps, but since it takes so much energy to grow me, sometimes she has to stop and take a break.

Today was one of those days. We crawled up on the bed this afternoon and settled in. Then my dad came home a little bit early, and he decided to nap with us. A little too playful to nap, my dad started giving my mom zuberts (sp?) on her tummy. Guess what I did? I kicked my dad in the face! Yep, my mom said it's probably the only time my dad will think face-kicking is cute! He made the silly noise and I kicked over and over again until my mom and dad were laughing pretty hard. Zurberts are fun!

I just can't wait to come out into the world. Playing with my dad will be such fun. If we can have this much fun while I'm still in my mom's tummy, surely it will only get better when I'm in the world...
