It's good to be home!

This morning Jack and I had a good time just being home. We had a wonderful time in Colorado, but it sure is nice to come home to rest up from all the fun. I think I'll be rested by next Tuesday, so can I come visit somebody else then?

We had a package waiting for us when we got home. (A few, actually, but we've only opened one so far.) Among other things, the package from Mommy's Godmother Muriel contained two of the cutest-ever nap-mats for Jack and me.

One is an alligator and the other is an elephant. They are super fun! And they will make naptime so much more enjoyable. Here I am showing Jack how they work. Jack is little, you know, so I have to explain things to him.

And can I ever explain. My parents are starting to call me "Chatty Cathy". When they call me by their new name for me, I respond with "who's Cathy?" That makes Mom and Dad giggle. They are so easy to entertain.

Well...I've got to get back to unpacking. I'm helping Mommy. I seriously wonder how she got anything done before she had me...

A Long Trip

Yesterday morning we said good-bye to Grandma Lou, Grandpa Jere, and Auntie Julia and headed home. It was a v-e-r-y long trip. It took soooo long to get home. Here's me with my not-so-thrilled-to-be-traveling face.

Thank goodness Mommy saw a sign for a McDonald's with a playplace. "We shall stop and let the boys play," declared Mommy. And stop we did! We even had a few fries! Yum!!!

Pretty soon it was time to get back on the road. Dad and I shot a few hoops before we strapped ourselves back in the car. Oh my...it takes way too long to get back and forth from my grandparents' houses...

Oh, and, Mommy wants me to explain my outfit. Yep, I had a little "accident" midway through our trip. I'm wearing pj pants with my firetruck shirt. Do you like my look? Mommy says I look like an Arkansan from the hills. :-)

New Shoes

Mommy went shopping today. She saw a Christmas stocking that said, "Who needs Santa when you have Grandma!" It's true. Today Grandma Lou found another present for me. She found me some really cute Crocs with fluffy lining. Of course I tried them on right away. And then I took off my pants so I could admire my shoes a little better.

Jack's First Haircut

It was time. Jack's hair has been out of control! Mommy didn't really want her baby's hair cut, but she was tired of combing out the knots. Grandma Lou does the first haircuts in our family, and since we won't see her until June, we thought we'd better get Jack's hair taken care of!

We tried the hair-cutting cape, but it didn't work. We took off the cape...

Here's a picture of the last few snips.

And the cut is finished! Jack has a little-boy haircut.

Jack just might be even cuter with his new haircut!

Thanks Grandma Lou!

Piano Playing

While Jack snuggled with Grandpa Jere, I played the piano with Grandma Lou. I touched the keys gently. It's important to treat musical instruments in the right way.
Then we sang a few songs. Last night my favorite song was The Little Drummer Boy.
" Pa rum pum pum pum..."

Grandpa Jere and Jack

Just before dinner last night, Grandpa Jere and Jack had a little snuggle time...

Compassion International

It was pretty cold yesterday--so cold that, once again, I couldn't play outside. We had to come up with another plan. We decided to head up to Grandma Lou's office. She works at Compassion International, and since they really like kids there, it was the perfect place for me to run the halls (Oh, and Grandma Lou wanted to show me off a little bit).

At Compassion they have a few sculptures depicting the Bible verse where Jesus tells the little children to come to Him. But best of all, they encourage kids to interact with the sculptures. Here I am sitting on Jesus' lap. (And, yes, I even got to wear a visitor's badge!)

And here I am touching Jesus' nose. Mommy likes this particular sculpture of Jesus because Jesus has a kind and friendly face.

I decided to call the collection of sculptures the "Jesus playground". I really don't think Jesus would mind one little bit; cause, after all, he really loves kids a whole lot!

A Snowy Day

This morning we woke up to snowflakes and super cold temperatures. Since we couldn't go outside, we decided to get a little laundry done. Grandma Lou's washer and dryer have windows so we can see what's going on with the clothes.

Squirrel watching came next. The bird feeders are for birds, but the squirrels didn't seem to get the memo explaining they're not to eat the birds' food.

Haircuts came next...Dad went first...

...then me...

...and Grandpa Jere went last. We all look pretty sharp! Grandma Lou sure is a good haircutter!

Just before naptime, it "warmed" up to 11 degrees, so Grandpa Jere and I headed out for a snow hike. I got really cold, so Dad warmed me up with a hot shower.

The forecast for tomorrow is cold and sunny. Hopefully I'll be able to go outside to play in the snow!

Whackin' Moles on Wednesday

I forgot to blog yesterday. It was because we were having too much fun playing games. One of the games I got for Christmas is called Whack-a-Mole, and boy is it fun!

The moles' hats light up, and then you hit the mole with the hammer. (Note: it is very important to only hit the moles with the hammers. We cannot hit furniture or people with the Whack-a-Mole hammers.)

Jack even got in on the action.

Whacking moles takes lots of concentration.

Now that you're caught up, I've got to get outside. It's snowing again! Yippee!!!

Christmas Snow

Grandpa Jere was nice enough to order us some Christmas snow.
This is how much snow we had before we opened presents...

...and this is how much snow we have now!

And it's still coming down! Oh my!!! I sure hope Auntie Jenna's plane can take off, or she's not going to make it to work in the morning.

Merry Christmas-Part Two

Jack had a good Christmas, too. This is his first, you know... He had some snuggle time with Auntie Julia while I opened my presents.

When I was finished, Grandma Lou helped Jack check out what Santa left for him.

Aren't these penguin slippers super cute?

Jack's toys looked just as fun as mine, so while Grandpa Jere held Jack, I showed him how all his new toys worked. I'm a very helpful big brother.

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas-Part One

He came!
Santa came in the middle of the night and ate the cookies I left out for him!

And, after he ate the cookies and drank the milk, Santa left me a few presents! Here's the new garage for me to park my cars in. Grandma Lou and Grandpa Jere helped Santa pick it out.

Auntie Jenna gave me some walkie-talkies. I think they'll be perfect to use in my SuperFort!

This is the tow truck that goes with my garage...and you can kind of see the new train that Auntie Julia got me (it's in the background).

I sure had a Merry Christmas!

Cookies and Milk

Even though Christmas is about Jesus, we still like to pretend about Santa. It turns out that Grandpa Jere likes to pretend about Santa just as much as Mommy does! So, just before bedtime we put some cookies and milk on the rocks by the fireplace. Santa will eat them when he comes to leave me some presents! Oh my, it will be hard to sleep tonight!!!

Happy Birthday to Jesus!

The reason we celebrate Christmas is because it's Jesus' birthday. And since birthdays should always involve birthday cake, today Mommy and I made a birthday cake for Jesus.

I helped by cracking eggs, measuring flour, and licking the beaters. I even wore one of Grandma Lou's aprons.

While the cake was baking, I took a break and wrestled with Dad, Auntie Julia, and Norah. But then Auntie Julia's earring came out, so we had to stop...

Finally it was time for cake! "Happy Birthday to Jesus," we sang...and then we ate cake!

Today

I started off today by sitting on the swing in the snow while Auntie Jenna drank her coffee. Auntie Jenna got to town last night, and I'm sure having fun with her!

Today I got to open a present. I opened a Super Fort; Aunt Jenna gave it to me. It just might be the funnest present ever! (At least until I open another present...)

Today I shared. I let Auntie Jenna have a little bit of time with Jack. He was pretty glad I shared--Jack loves Auntie Jenna, too.

I finished up today by reading a story with Grandma Lou. Do you like my turkey hat?

And now it's time to go to sleep. I have to rest up cause tomorrow I get to play with Auntie Jenna and Auntie Julia!

Plowing

After the snow storm yesterday, Grandpa Jere and I needed to do a little plowing this morning. But first we had to eat some bagels and oranges.

Next it was time to assess the situation. "Yep, we need to plow," we said, and out we went.

This is Grandpa Jere's new snow plow. It sure is neat! Well, it's neat as long as my Dad is pretty close while all the noise is happening. Remember noise isn't really my thing.

Norah likes the plow, too.

And before too long we were finished! We're inside warming up and deciding what kind of fun we're having next!
